For over a year in SWG, ECHO Squadron was the biggest and baddest guild on the server. While my pal and I joined into SWG wanting to be a part of it, we later realized that we would have a lot more fun and action if we opposed them. Years went on in battle between LOTD and ECHO, later we reformed with new allies as HATE (Hand of the Empire) and we were still in a constant battle with ECHO. Our time in game dwindled down and other games like WoW were surfacing. We reached out to the leaders of ECHO Squadron in hopes of starting something great in another "galaxy". That is where we came to be Blunt Logic, in the wonderful World of Warcraft. The leaders from LOTD - HATE - ECHO - REIGN came together as one front in an effort to take on the new challenges that Azeroth had to offer. We decided to bring our gaming expertise together and form a new guild that would rival all who heard of it within the realm of Skullcrusher.
With the core of Blunt Logic being PvP'ers from SWG, we decided that it would
be best to see what WoW had to offer in terms of PvP. As we leveled, we began to grow in terms of how many people were in the guild and structure became ever so important. We began to divide the guild officers up into roles to lighten the load on everyones shoulders and refine the process of leadership within WoW.
Gpunk did an amazing job of working out how to handle over 180 people. We put together forums, ventrilo, and many various checks and balances to make sure we provided a casual atmosphere in our guild. Leadership was strong.
I have served many roles within Blunt Logic over the last few years and wanted to take a minute to talk about some that stand out.
PvP officer -- I organized PvP groups and raids on enemy towns for quite some time within WoW. I would spend countless hours scouting out raids the night before and coming up with strategies to get us to the location with as many of our men in tact as possible. We had a lot of fun during the town raid days and I learned a lot of leadership skills required in WoW to run a large raid. Commanding in WoW was lot different than in SWG. I will never forget leading three groups of people (120+) through Stormwind and Ironforge. I will certainly never forget killing Thrall - we were a Horde guild.
PvE Officer -- I ran PvE encounters for BL for a long time as well. I led through Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, and parts of AQ40. We progressed very well and during this time I learned a lot about what it meant to be a leader, in terms of understanding game mechanics and encounters well enough to lead through them. I would spend many hours working out strategies in our forums with pictures, video, and detail. I even put together an entire walkthrough of Molten Core and Blackwing Lair.
The walkthroughs helped us progress through the encounters as fast as possible. Once we got past the second boss in BWL, we cleared the entire zone in under 6 weeks. I am still proud of this accomplishment. I was so involved in the
PvE and PvP aspect of BL that I was promoted to Co-GM with Gpunk where I was tasked with the running of the guild. This was honestly the hardest and most
worthwhile thing I have done in a game. More challenging than any computerized encounter or any Player vs. Player encounter, is the task of commanding a guild. I had done it in SWG but never dreamed of the complexity WoW would require. I loved my time as BL leadership. I log into the game now while Waiting on Warhammer and I really miss the challenges and the memories.
The game isn't what is important to me however. I realize this as I get ready to transition into another couple of years playing Warhammer Online. It is the people that you surround yourself with that matter. My friends from Galaxies and my friends that I picked up here will be what make me happy in WAR.
We will be bringing friends that have known one another for over 8 years, Lovers that moved 1800 miles to be with one another after meeting in a Blunt Logic raid, mothers, and room-mates. We will arrive in Warhammer with a cop, a linux admin, an author, a mexican, a college student, and many other forms of real life personalities. We are more than pixels to each other. We are friends who will stand together through thick and thin and bring Warhammer one of the hardest, most refined guilds anyone has ever seen.
When we are done in Warhammer, it will be common knowledge to stay off the tracks. Stand back, there is a train coming." -- Erinys |R.I.P.|
